HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING JUNE 28

Compared to last week, hay movement and prices remained steady. Much of the state received beneficial moisture, with some areas reporting excessive rainfall. The precipitation slowed field activity and reduced hay movement as producers were unable to access fields. Despite the temporary slowdown, demand remained stable. According to the US Drought Monitor for the week of June 25th, in the High Plains, the region’s eastern states reported drought improvement or unchanged conditions, with a few exceptions. Streaks of heavy rain led to one-category improvement in a swath across central Nebraska and western and central Kansas. However, the rain arrived too late to help winter wheat and has only recently begun to revive drought-stricken rangeland and pastures. In Kansas, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 16%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased to 20%, severe drought (D2) decreased to 17%, extreme drought (D3) stayed at 1.50%, there was no exceptional drought (D4) recorded with 46% of the state experiencing no drought. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower prices than those published.
