HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING NOVEMBER 1

Hay supply remained tight this past week, while movement slowed due to weather conditions and elevated fuel costs, making transportation increasingly costly. Fifth- and sixth-cutting alfalfa was put up, with initial reports indicating very good quality ahead of testing. According to the US Drought Monitor for the week of October 29th, in the High Plains, excessive precipitation and areas of flooding were reported across much of central and southern Colorado last week, with at least moderate amounts (over 0.5 inch) common from the western half of Kansas northward through most of Nebraska and South Dakota. In Kansas, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 27%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased to 16%, severe drought (D2) stayed at 5%, and there was no extreme drought (D3) or exceptional drought (D4) recorded with 52% of the state experiencing no drought. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower prices than those published.
