HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING JUNE 13

Compared to the previous report, hay movement was light as elevated transportation costs, wheat harvest activities, and severe storms limited market activity across portions of the state. Demand remained good. Producers continued preparations for second cutting, with early reports indicating favorable yield potential and improved crop conditions in many areas. However, prospects for the upcoming brome harvest remain below average, as armyworm infestations last year caused significant stand damage in some regions. According to the US Drought Monitor for the week of June 11th, in the high plains region, above-normal precipitation occurred in southern Nebraska, northern Kansas, northern Nebraska into southern and central South Dakota, and across much of northern North Dakota. Drought intensity eased where the heaviest rains fell in Nebraska, Kansas and South Dakota, and drought was eliminated in portions of northern Kansas and southeast Nebraska. In Kansas, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 16%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased to 24%, severe drought (D2) increased to 22%, extreme drought (D3) decreased to 0.50%, there was no exceptional drought (D4) recorded with 38% of the state experiencing no drought. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower prices than those published.
