HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING OCTOBER 7th

Compared to the last report, demand, and trade activity for the most part remained steady, however, trades of alfalfa picked up this past week for the southwest and south-central regions. Producers state that even though trades did increase for those regions, there seems to be a lot of options for end users to feed, as their reports indicate an abundance of silage and feed hay. Most producers are busy finishing corn harvest and moving on to milo and beans. Yields, for the most part, have been down. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for October 3rd, the categorical percent area for abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased to 16%, moderate drought (D1) decreased to 18%, severe drought (D2) increased to 28%, extreme drought (D3) remained at 19%, and exceptional drought (D4) remained at 1%.
