Compared to the last report demand remained good, prices remained steady, and trade activity was moderate. The market remains quiet with previously purchased hay being delivered. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for January 24th A half an inch or more of precipitation fell across parts of Kansas, eastern Colorado, southeast Wyoming and Nebraska. Moderate to extreme (D1-D3) drought and abnormal dryness (D0) was contracted slightly in Kansas, thanks to recent rain and snow events. The categorical percent area for abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased to 13.5%, moderate drought (D1) decreased to 14%, severe drought (D2) remained near 12%, extreme drought (D3) remained at 19%, and exceptional drought (D4) fell to near 37%. ** Prices below reflect the average price.
