Compared to the last report demand remained strong, prices remained mostly steady, but actual trades were down in most regions last week. Little has seemed to change since the last report as contributors indicate the market has been quiet for the first week of January. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for January 3rd, current categorical percent area for abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 15%, moderate drought (D1) decreased to 16%, severe drought (D2) remained near 12%, extreme drought (D3) increased to 20%, and exceptional drought (D4) remained near 37%. ** Prices below reflect the average price. Southwest Kansas
Dairy alfalfa steady, grinding alfalfa and ground and delivered steady, movement slow. Alfalfa: horse, supreme small squares 12.00-14.00/bale. Dairy, 1.40-1.50/point RFV.
