
Want to know more about playas, the benefits they provide, and how to manage them as part of a profitable operation? Learn that and more at the 7th Annual Playa Workshop and Tour on January 10 and 11, 2023 at the Liberal Conference Center in the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Liberal, Kansas.
The two-day event will focus on making playas profitable and is free for landowners and producers with playas on their land. For others who would like to attend, there is a $50 fee, which covers lunch on Wednesday. REGISTER NOW!
While the event is designed for landowners and land managers who have playas on their land, it is also open to individuals who are interested in learning more about this unique natural resource and how playas can help provide clean water for communities.
Participants will learn about how to manage their playas as part of a profitable operation, playa management considerations, and playa conservation programs that can help your bottom line, including the USDA CRP Migratory Birds, Butterflies and Pollinators SAFE program, which is available to landowners in western Kansas and the Oklahoma panhandle. There will also be opportunities to hear directly from landowners and producers about their experiences managing playas and have discussions with agency staff about the pros and cons of various playa conservation programs.
The two-day event will begin on Tuesday, January 10, from 1 to 5 p.m., followed by a social. The workshop will continue on Wednesday, January 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with lunch provided. At the end of the workshop, there will be a drawing for a prize valued at $500 or more; those in attendance at the time are eligible to win.
