As we prepare to seed alfalfa this late summer or into fall, it’s important to prepare for the possibility of a high wind event or flash rain event that will come at the wrong time as our perfectly seeded alfalfa emerges. Planting a cover crop is a must in the Plains production area as we can expect one or both of these to happen sometime during our alfalfa seeding establishment period.
