Hay markets remain steady for alfalfa and grass hay along with trades remained fairly steady as well. Producers believe prices will not change significantly until cooler weather arrives. Warmer weather and soil moisture has allowed for many to finish putting up hay for the season. Based off of the US Drought Monitor for the week of October 19th, improvements were made across parts of Nebraska and Kansas caused by weekly precipitation amounts of greater than 1 inch including soil moisture recovery. Abnormally dry conditions decreased 23%, moderate drought increased to 12%, and severe drought decreased to almost 2.5%.
