2018 Request for Applications (RFA) Announcement

 The North Central Extension Risk Management Education Center in conjunction with the Northeast, Southern, and Western Centers announces a competitive funding opportunity for educational projects designed to help agricultural producers improve their economic viability through targeted risk management strategies. Projects must be results-based, producer-focused and address at least one of the five areas of risk management: production, marketing, financial, legal, and human. The North Central Center will consider applications in two categories: 1) 18-month Education Projects (awards of up to $50,000) to be conducted between April 1, 2018 and September 30, 2019 and 2) Exploratory Projects (awards of up to $3,000) to support planning, development, and piloting efforts that are expected to lead to a future ERME Education Project (project period of March 1 – October 31, 2018).

Applications are due by 5 P.M. CST, Thursday, November 16, 2017.

Eligibility: Applications are sought from qualified public and private groups, organizations, and institutions with a demonstrated capacity to develop and deliver results/outcome-based risk management education projects for agricultural producers and their families. All organizations serving agricultural producers, especially those working with the special emphasis audiences identified on page 3 of the RFA, are strongly encouraged to apply. The North Central Center serves Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Project Director (PD) Training (for Education projects only): The North Central Center will conduct its PD Training on April 10 in conjunction with the 2018 ERME National Conference (scheduled April 11-12) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The training will be at the Hilton Milwaukee Conference Center and will be scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The rate for hotel guest rooms in the conference block is $139/night plus tax. Please utilize this information to estimate travel costs when developing your project budget. Although only PDs new to ERME are required to attend, all PDs are encouraged to participate.
