Summer Fire Field Day August 3rd

A Summer Fire Field Day will be held Thursday, August 3rd at Rolling Hills Zoo, west of Salina Kansas. The prescribed fire demo and presentation are designed to answer numerous questions about in-season burns, such as: Will green vegetation burn? Do summer burns kill native grass? Can summer burns kill cedars? What does growing season fire do to Sericea lespedeza?

Registration will begin 8:30 am followed by a prescribed burn demonstration from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm (weather permitting). Lunch will be at noon (at no cost), followed by “Burning in the Growing Season: The How’s and Why’s,” at 1 pm.

Directions: On I-70, go west from the I-70/I-135 Junction NW of Salina, KS for 6 miles to the Hedville Rd. exit and go south 2 miles to the zoo entrance. Follow signs to registration area.
