HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING NOVEMBER 18

This past week, demand has stayed steady and prices have also stayed mostly steady. Harvest is being wrapped up for most producers and hay movement should continue to stay steady throughout the rest of the fall. Overall, there has not been much change in the hay market in the past few weeks. According to the US Drought Monitor for the week of November 13th, in the High Plains Region, temperatures in the eastern edge of the High Plains area remained mostly within a couple degrees of normal, as a strong cold front moved into the central U.S. near the end of the period. Otherwise, most of the region was warmer than normal, especially western Nebraska and central and western portions of Colorado and Wyoming, where temperatures from 4-8 degrees above normal were common this week. Some precipitation, generally under a half inch liquid equivalent, fell from central South Dakota to northeast Nebraska. Elsewhere, mostly dry weather was the rule across the region. In Kansas, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased to 15%, Moderate drought (D1) increased to 8.5%, severe drought (D2) stayed at more than 1%, and there was no extreme (D3) or exceptional drought (D4) recorded, with 75% of the state experiencing no drought. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower prices than those published. The next available report will be published Tuesday, December 9th.
