HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING SEPTEMBER 27

This past week, there had been no change in demand and prices were steady. Trade remains slow to moderate. The sun started shining in many parts of the state, so producers were finally able to get in their fields. There is an abundance of lower quality alfalfa across the state, keeping grinding hay movement steady. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for the week of September 25th, most of the High Plains region is free of drought or received drought-easing precipitation, including some high-elevation snow in the central Rockies. Although rain has slowed fieldwork, including summer crop harvesting and winter wheat planting, moisture should benefit rangeland, pastures, and fall-sown crops. In Kansas, the categorical percent area of abnormally
dry conditions (D0) decreased significantly to almost 13%, Moderate drought (D1) stayed at 5%, and no severe (D2), extreme (D3) or exceptional drought (D4) was recorded, with more than 82% of the state experiencing no drought. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower prices than those
published.
