HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING JUNE 3RD

This past week, demand was light, trade was moderate, and prices were steady. With scattered storms across the state, many regions have gotten an abundance of rain, making the outlook for the second cutting of alfalfa very optimistic. There has been very little movement of new crop alfalfa and continued movement of old crop and grass hay. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for the week of May 27th, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 52.5%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased significantly to 16%, Severe drought (D2) stayed at near 1%, and no Extreme drought (D3) or Exceptional drought (D4) was recorded. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower than those published.
Southwest Kansas Demand, light. Trade activity is steady. Dairy alfalfa, ground and delivered, steady. Grinding alfalfa $5 higher. Alfalfa: Dairy, $1.00-$1.10/point RFV. Good quality, Stock or Dry Cow hay none reported. Fair/good, grinding alfalfa, large rounds and large squares $110.00-$120.00. Alfalfa pellets: sun cured 15 pct protein $215.00-$220.00, 17 pct protein $220.00-$225.00. Ground and delivered locally to feed lots and dairies $150.00-$160.00.
