With scattered storms across the state, many regions have gotten an abundance of rain, making the outlook for the second cutting of alfalfa very optimistic. There has been very little movement of new crop alfalfa and continued movement of old crop and grass hay. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for the week of May 27th, the categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 52.5%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased significantly to 16%, Severe drought (D2) stayed at near 1%, and no Extreme drought (D3) or Exceptional drought (D4) was recorded.
