This past week, demand remained light, and prices were steady. Grinder hay movement did pick up a bit this past week, but no one is reporting deliveries to new customers . The supply of hay available remains heavy and will probably stay that way until after the first of the year, unless, of course, Mother Nature decides to throw us some wintery weather. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for November 19th, Moderate to heavy precipitation was widespread across the southern and eastern reaches of the High Plains Region. In the areas of heaviest precipitation (1.5 to approaching 3.0 inches), improvement was introduced. This included significant parts of Kansas. The categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased to 38%, Moderate drought (D1) increased to near 31%, and no Severe drought (D2), Extreme drought (D3) or Exceptional drought (D4) was recorded.
