***** THANK YOU VETERENS ******
This past week, demand remained light, and prices were steady. Buyers are still not buying, but sellers aren’t interested to selling at these lower prices, putting the hay market at a standstill. Loads being delivered are to long term customers and hay that was contracted in the summer. Kansas is finally receiving rain, and although it makes things muddy and hard to work in, I think most welcome it to as it will replenish the soil moisture and fill up ponds. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for November 5th, Significant rains fell over much of Kansas, into southeast Nebraska and southeast Colorado. Rain and snow fell from portions of eastern Colorado into Wyoming and into the Dakotas too, reversing the trend of very dry conditions. Temperatures were 9-12 degrees above normal in much of eastern Nebraska and eastern Kansas and much of eastern Kansas saw a full category of improvement last week, with extreme drought being removed from the southeast. The categorical percent area of abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 45%, Moderate drought (D1) decreased to near 42%, Severe drought (D2) decreased to 11%, and no Extreme drought (D3) or Exceptional drought (D4) was recorded. Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower than those published. FULL REPORT
