HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING JUNE 7th

Demand is still low for grinding hay; however, trade activity has picked up a bit as buyers are looking for bargains and many sellers are willing to let go of old crop hay in order to clean out barns. New crop pricing is still slow to come in. First cut alfalfa has been steadily hitting the ground with yields less than anticipated in western counties and some producers are even already laying down their second cutting. Eastern county alfalfa yields have been average to above average depending on rainfall received. The categorical percent area for abnormally dry conditions (D0) increased to 22%, moderate drought (D1) increased to 26.5%, severe drought (D2) decreased to 15%, extreme drought (D3) is just over a half of a percent and no exceptional drought (D4) was recorded. **Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower than those published. FULL REPORT
