Native hay meadow production tour + ecological drivers for grazing management decisions, July 1, 2014

The Tallgrass Legacy Alliance is sponsoring a Native hay meadow production tour + ecological drivers for grazing management decisions workshop on July 2, 2024. It will begin at 11:00 AM, at the Woodson Wildlife Area/Lake Fegan, 738 Fegan Road, Toronto, KS. Meals included!

The event will include a discussion regarding numerous issues of management of native hay meadows and include a tour of the Woodson WA native rangelands, and some very innovative grazing and grassland management that is taking place there.

Agenda

11:00 a.m.Meet up at Woodson Wildlife Area Shop Facility, located at 738 Fegan Rd, Toronto KS.  Located on the Southwest Corner of Lake Fegan.  
11:30 a.m.Catered lunch at WOSL Shop PowerPoint presentation – John Johnson, Woodson Wildlife Area Manager ·         Brief historical overview of Woodson WA and how staff is utilizing Ecological Drivers for Grazing Management Decisions to restore grassland health and productivity.  
12:15 – 12:30 p.m.Load up on trailers ·         Tour two Native Hay Meadows in close proximity to Woodson WA ·         Walk and talk about hay meadow management  
3:45 – 4:15 p.m.Loop through Woodson WA pastures for tour and discussion on the way back to the shop.  
4:30 p.m.Arrive back at the shop and conclude the tour.
