HERE IS YOUR KANSAS HAY MARKET REPORT FOR THE WEEK ENDING FEBRUARY 17th

Compared to the last report, demand remains light, and grinding alfalfa prices continue to fall. There are lots of folks still wanting to sell grinding alfalfa, but buyers are few and far between. Producers report that they expect a lot of low-quality alfalfa and sudan to be carried over. Most hay being moved is on previously contracted hay. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor for February 13th, high temperatures averaged about 8 to more than 20 degrees above normal. Precipitation of less than 0.5 inches fell across much of the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Kansas. Southwest Nebraska, Kansas, and eastern Colorado saw 1-category improvements to long-term drought areas. Short-term moisture deficits have largely been eliminated. The categorical percent area for abnormally dry conditions (D0) decreased to near 22%, moderate drought (D1) decreased to near 26%, severe drought (D2) decreased to just over 2%, and no extreme drought (D3) or exceptional drought (D4) was recorded. **Prices below reflect the average price. There could be prices higher and lower than those published. FULL REPORT
