Caroline Ruto, is a doctoral student in the Department of Geography and Geospatial Sciences at Kansas State University, and is currently conducting research on ranching systems in Kansas under the supervision of Dr. Walter Fick.

The main research goal is to determine how extreme weather events influence the decision-making process of ranchers, the role of social capital in decision-making and how that influences the adaptation of practices among ranchers in Kansas.
